For a company to be at the top of their game and to be a formidable competitor, it is crucial that it consistently reassesses the way in which every segment operates. Doing so can further maximize employee productivity and satisfaction.

Sealed Air is a unified company with a relentless desire to win. To ensure that it remains on the right track and continues to be a market leader, the company has established four core competencies which staff must honor each and every day.

These competencies have been embraced by Diversey Care with the aim to create an exceptionally engaged workforce that strives to disrupt innovation wherever it can. By creating these core competencies, employees are able to measure their performance in various categories, and consequently learn where they are excelling, and where improvements need to be made. The four competencies are as follows:

  • Customer Obsessed: Customers should be of paramount importance for employees. Loyal customers must be retained by consistently surprising them with the business’s products and services. Every employee must create and nurture profitable, long-lasting relationships which exceed customer expectations. Amazon is a business which has done just that, and is considered one of the top online retailers for customer satisfaction. Amazon offers low prices, a vast selection and quick delivery, while also minimizing the things that customers dread, such as delays, out-of-stock products and defected products.

  • Owner Mentality: The American author Booker T. Washington famously stated that, “Few things can help an individual more than to place responsibility upon him, and to let him know that you trust him.” This brings us to Sealed Air’s second core competency – Owner Mentality. To be a successful employee, it is vital that you hold yourself accountable for your actions – whether good or bad. If this is something that you as an employee are failing to do, then there are ways that this can be remedied. Have a set of clearly articulated goals that specifically state the outcome required – which will then establish whether you are effectively reaching them.

  • Never Totally Satisfied: An employee who always believes that they can perform better will prosper. Ideal employees are those who have high ambitions, lead others to follow their success and are focussed in meeting each and every milestone. Toyota, the car manufacturer, is a company which always strives to perform better, and has developed The Toyota Way – a lean manufacturing process. This process ensures that every employee is responsible for inspecting quality and ensuring continuous improvement.

  • Agile through Adversity: At any company, demonstrating the ability to bounce back when faced with complex situations is key. Remaining focused and composed in stressful situations can be tricky, but it is a skill that once mastered, will prove invaluable for your customers.

These core competencies should form the backbone for how you conduct yourself as an employee and how you serve your valued customers in every market-leading business. Having a team of employees who are continually looking to make themselves better is an asset – and here at Diversey Care we couldn’t be prouder of the team that we have helped build.
