Liquid dairy industry explores market of tomorrow at Aseptic Re-Evolution event
In June, Sealed Air hosted an event for liquid dairy processors from across the globe at its Proaseptic facility in Barcelona. The event focused on aseptic packaging and how it can provide a competitive edge for liquid dairy processing products.
During the sessions, experts talked about how to move product ranges to a premium price point by responding to market demands, providing on-shelf differentiation and increasing sustainability credentials.
With the global aseptic packaging market expected to rise by 10 percent between 2016 and 2024, attendees were advised to take a ‘share of the market of tomorrow’ by investing in packaging that responds to consumer demands.
Workshop discussions indicated that the industry is in the midst of an increasingly competitive and saturated liquid dairy market, and processors are keen to innovate to maintain their success. Following advances in equipment and technologies, aseptic packaging is an innovation that is projected to stimulate growth opportunities for dairy and beverage manufacturers.
“As demands for more convenient, sustainable products grow steadily in the next ten years, processors must be proactive in seeking solutions that the market requires of them now and for the future. The consumer trends towards healthier lifestyles and greater food safety will shape the liquid dairy industry and drive aseptic processing and packaging as an effective solution,” said Arnaud Quetin, executive director of Aseptic Global Sales at Sealed Air Food Care.
The event showcased Sealed Air’s Cryovac® Proaseptic® retail and food service pouches, which provide consumers with a resealable fitment that enables the product to be consumed on-the-go, offering greater convenience. The pouches also help prevent food waste, a growing concern with European consumers.
The increased tendency for grocery shoppers to be concerned with the safety of the food they consume was also emphasized by speakers. Sealed Air highlighted that it combines innovative technologies with its experience in developing quality-assured aseptic packaging for low-acid, liquid dairy products to combat this concern and provide processors with confidence.
