Sealed Air Introduces Revolutionary Meat Packaging, OptiDure™

Innovative Platform Enhances Abuse Resistance and Optics for Meats Products

Charlotte, N.C., Sealed Air Corporation (NYSE: SEE) today introduced its latest innovation: Cryovac® OptiDure™, a new award-winning packaging platform that will significantly impact the fresh red meat as well as smoked and processed meats segments. The packaging technology is aptly timed as protein is at the center of American diets, and ready-to-eat meats that conveniently suit busy lifestyles are especially on the rise.

OptiDure™ packaging technology combines two critical features: high-abuse resistance and abrasion protection. The packaging also exhibits superior "Free Shrink" that enhances visibility of the meat by reducing the distracting appearance of excess film around the product. Whether for a high-quality steak or a heavily-seasoned salami, these strong packages offer the durability processors need while still providing the visual appeal and transparency retailers and consumers demand.

The enhanced packaging film strength also reduces the incidence of food waste by ensuring fewer products are punctured along the distribution chain, such as meats thickly coated with abrasive seasonings that can often cause leakers. In addition to the reduction of food waste, processors and retailers are minimizing their environmental impact through OptiDure’s highly-efficient packaging materials: the “Free Shrink” feature utilizes fewer materials while providing superior strength and more viewability of the meat product.
