At Sealed Air, celebrating our people and their accomplishments is a core part of our culture. In our “Meet: Our People” series, you’ll hear directly from our people across the globe on what it’s like working at SEE, and a little bit about them outside of work.
Where I’m located: Holyoke, Mass., U.S.A.
Length of time with SEE: 1 year, 11 months.
My workday consists of: Many moving parts, everyday consists of different demands, but the focuses of all my workdays are employee safety, production quality, and production goal delivery.
What I enjoy most about working at SEE is: My Holyoke team.
Being Collaborative with my team has been the most enjoyable part of working at SEE, I am thankful for the opportunity that I have working alongside them.
I feel passionate about the culture at SEE, because: It aligns with my personal views, and it gives clear meaningful guidance at all levels from individual contributors, to our sites, to the entire organization. The culture is intentionally centered on the company's purpose, allowing for constant daily reminder that how we interact and behave should contribute to leaving our world better than we find it.
"Maeliz recently became the Group Performance Leader (GPL) at our Holyoke, Mass. site," says Manager, People Experience Catharine Watson. " She joined SEE in the Safety and Quality Coordinator role and obtained an engineering degree (BS), and is currently enrolled for her MBA. Her people-focused approach has significantly impacted the site as she has utilized e-learning and LinkedIn Learning courses to practice resiliency in the face of numerous challenges. Sealed Air is very fortunate to have Maeliz."
The core value that inspires me the most is Innovative because: As a degreed mechanical engineer, I have a knack for problem-solving and exploring new ideas, both of which are facilitated by my role at SEE.
Someone who was an important influence on my career was my mentor because: She reinforced the concept of self-advocacy early on. Speaking up for oneself and one's interest can be difficult, so having someone providing reminders of how important it is goes a long way. By utilizing the e-learning courses, I have become more knowledgeable on leadership development and strengthened my decision-making skills. Being knowledgeable and informed supports a person's ability to self-advocate. I have been able to use these learning tools with my team as well, which has had positive effects in their development as team leaders.
To support the growth and development of our employees, SEE offers 24/7 access to digital learning content in multiple languages on various topics, including diversity, equity & inclusion, leadership development, personal development, and more.
