SEALED AIR® Brand E-Cube Void Reduction System

By automating the right-sizing process for cartons, the SEALED AIR® brand E-Cube Void Reduction system brings speed, efficiency, and cost savings to e-commerce and direct-to-consumer order fulfillment.

The E-Cube cartoning system starts by automatically constructing the box base into which product is placed, measuring the height of the product in the container, and then customizing the height of box corners before folding in and securing the upper flaps. This unique system allows direct picking into the shipping container and is suitable for any order profile including single / multi orders or fragility.

Frequently Asked Questions

Right-sized packaging refers to the practice of using packaging that is appropriately sized for the products it contains. This approach aims to minimize waste, reduce costs, and improve efficiency in the supply chain. SEALED AIR® brand Automated Cartoning Systems take this practice to the next level, by automating the box sizing, folding, and sealing processes based on system-measured product dimensions which reduces the need for void fill materials.

Void space in packaging refers to the empty space within a package that is not occupied by the product it contains. Void space typically arises from:

  • Improper Sizing: When the packaging is larger than necessary for the product, it leaves excess space around it.
  • Inadequate Filling: Insufficient packing materials or cushioning can result in gaps between the product and the package walls.
  • Product Shape: Oddly shaped products may create natural voids when placed in standard packaging.

Reducing void space is important for improving product protection, optimizing shipping costs, and minimizing material waste. Properly designed, right-sized packaging can help ensure that products fit snugly without the need for excess void fill while providing stability during transport and storage.
